Shawn Brewer is an illustrator, comic artist, and printmaker based out of Portland, Maine. Shawn’s illustrations and designs are often cosmic, raw, and detailed depictions of the psychedelic themes in pulp fantasy/Sci-fi. With deep roots to the low-brow arts movement, his work draws on sophisticated renderings using hand drawing tools. He also borrows from the aesthetic of the printmaker; his drawings and illustrations are kept black and white so they may be easily transferred into a woodblock or screen print. His work aims to tell a story that will engage audiences with a unique experience not commonly told in other stories or art.

Shawn Brewer is the co-founder of Outbound Press, a travelling screenprinting studio that makes hand printed t-shirts, posters,and other printed matter. He is also co-founder of One Page Stinkers, Portland’s first indie-published comic zine. He is a Maine College of Art Graduate class of ‘12, and was the program founder of Publication Studio, an arts studio, printshop, and self publishing hub for adults with developmental disabilities located in the State Theater Building. He has shown his work at the Portland Public Library, Waterfall Arts, the ICA at MECA, and has toured nationally with New Balance as a live screenprinting artist.
